NORTH BOSTON, N.Y. — Penn State Altoona student-athlete Aja’nai Jumper, of Carlisle, was named the Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference’s Women’s Wrestler of the Week on Jan. 27.

Jumper posted a 2-2 head-to-head record while finishing in fifth place in the 207 weight class during Sunday’s PA Women’s Collegiate State Championships at East Stroudsburg University.

Jumper started Sunday's action with a close loss, going down 4-3 by fall to Alvernia University's Peyton Fries in the quarterfinal round of the 207 bracket. After moving down to the consolation bracket, Jumper bounced back to rally past Waynesburg University's Ja'Khia Matthews for a 6-5 win. Jumper took a defeat in the consolation semifinal round, where she lost a 6-4 decision to Gannon University's Christina Chavez. But Jumper finished her day on a high note, posting her second comeback win of the tournament and defeating Ursinus College's Evette Colon by fall in the fifth place bout.

This is Jumper’s first career AMCC Wrestler of the Week award.

Penn State Altoona women’s wrestling’s next event is Feb. 8 when the Lions will compete in the AMCC Invitational at Hiram College.
