Altoona’s Abigail Morgan selected for AMCC Player of the Week in women’s tennis

NORTH BOSTON, N.Y. — Penn State Altoona student-athlete Abigail Morgan, of Orrville, Ohio, was named the Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference’s Player of the Week for women’s tennis on Oct. 6.

Morgan had solid performances in both singles and doubles last week as she helped Penn State Altoona to go 2-0 against AMCC foe Pitt Greensburg and non-conference opponent Penn College.

In Friday’s 6-1 victory over Penn College, Morgan would blank her opponent 6-0, 6-0 in No. 5 singles.

Against Pitt Greensburg, Morgan would rack up wins in both doubles and singles as the Lions would beat the Bobcats 5-2. In No. 1 doubles, Morgan would win 6-3. In No. 4 singles, Morgan would win her second set 6-1 and the tiebreaker set 10-8.

Penn State Altoona women’s tennis is 11-1 overall (4-1 AMCC) so far this season and returns to action on Oct. 10 as they travel to Harrisburg to face Penn State Harrisburg. The match is set to begin at 3:30 p.m.
