UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa — Penn State Extension will offer an introductory webinar aimed at teaching anyone interested in water resources how to use a new tool to assess stream health, collect data and submit findings.
The “Community Science Tool to Track Stream Health” webinar will occur from noon to 1:30 p.m. Sept. 18.
This webinar is designed to introduce participants to the First Investigation of Stream Health (FISH) tool, an easy-to-use mobile app to help explore streams and share findings with the scientific community.
Among other topics, participants will learn:
— How to use the First Investigation of Stream Health tool.
— Which habitat characteristics contribute to a healthy stream.
— How to collect stream health data through hands-on practice.
— How to submit data using the mobile app, online reporting tool or paper data sheets.
— Where to find additional resources.
Penn State Extension offers this event at no charge. Organizers note that space is limited, so preregistration is required. The registration deadline is Sept. 18.
Registration is required to receive the link to access the webinar. A link to the recorded webinar will be emailed to registrants within 10 business days after the live event. The recording will be accessible for six months from the event date.
