Alzheimer’s and dementia educational resources offered by Penn State Extension

UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. — In partnership with the Alzheimer’s Association, Penn State Extension offers evidence-based community educational resources and opportunities for caregivers of those with Alzheimer’s or dementia, or those looking for information on how to keep their brain healthy.

Resources offered on Alzheimer’s and dementia include the following workshops and webinars:

  • “Understanding Alzheimer’s and Dementia.” Offered as a workshop or webinar, this educational program provides a general overview of Alzheimer’s disease and dementia.

  • “10 Warning Signs of Alzheimer's Disease.” In this program, participants will learn about typical age-related changes, common signs of Alzheimer's and how to approach someone about memory concerns. Additionally, other helpful Alzheimer's resources will be provided.

  • “The Empowered Caregiver Series.” This webinar series is designed to provide tools and guidance to caregivers of those with Alzheimer’s or dementia. Topics include supporting independence for patients, responding to dementia behaviors and communicating effectively with those with the disease. Participants are not required to attend all workshops.

  • “Building Brain-Healthy Habits.” During this in-person workshop or webinar, participants can learn how they can take positive steps to help them live better now and protect their memory and thinking as they get older.

Registration deadlines vary by event; organizers encourage preregistration.
