Virtual records management training session scheduled for May 12

UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. — Penn State’s Office of Records Management will offer a virtual training session, “Records Management at Penn State: Getting Your Files Organized the Easy Way,” from 10 a.m. to noon on May 12.

The session is designed to help faculty and staff manage, retain and organize University records effectively and will provide an overview of records management policies, procedures and services. Specific guidance will be provided for employees at Commonwealth Campuses scheduled to close in advance of tailored, campus-level follow-up meetings being planned for this summer.

The course will cover:

  • Policy AD35, which defines how University records are created, maintained, stored and securely handled.

  • How to apply records retention schedules to ensure that records are managed in accordance with University requirements.

  • The University Inactive Records Center, which provides secure storage, retrieval and destruction services, as well as strategies for organizing files to support efficiency and compliance.

The training session will be recorded, and materials will be shared with campuses as part of continued records management support. Employees can register through Penn State’s Learning Resource Network (LRN).
