UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. — The Office of Planning, Assessment and Institutional Research (OPAIR) launched the Assessment Community of Practice (CoP) in spring 2026 to support faculty, staff and students interested in strengthening assessment practices.
Hosted by OPAIR’s assessment team, the Assessment CoP provides a space for meaningful dialogue, collaboration and shared problem-solving around common topics in assessment practice.
Since its launch, the community has held two sessions: “Making Assessment Work for You,” which explored adaptable assessment strategies that align with participants’ work and support meaningful improvement, and “Summer Assessment Swap and Share,” which gave participants an opportunity to exchange ideas and effective practices with colleagues across units.
Fall 2026
As the CoP continues into the fall 2026 semester, OPAIR is expanding the format to include guest speakers and facilitators who will offer additional perspectives, expertise and practical strategies related to assessment. These sessions will continue to emphasize discussion, collaboration, and opportunities for participants to learn from one another.
Faculty, staff and students interested in participating can join the Assessment Community of Practice listserv to receive information about upcoming sessions. For further details, check out the Assessment CoP SharePoint.
