Penn State announces Follett as new campus store retail operator 

New partnership with Follett to reimagine retail experience at campus stores

UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. – Follett Higher Education Group will manage campus store retail operations and athletic venues at University Park and existing locations at Commonwealth Campuses beginning in July 2026. The proposal was approved by the Board of Trustees’ Committee on Finance and Investment on March 13.

As part of the agreement, Follett will provide comprehensive management of retail services, including the sale of Penn State licensed apparel, textbooks, course materials and supplies, as well as e-commerce operations.

“This new partnership will help transform our retail stores into vibrant, welcoming spaces designed to meet the needs of our faculty, staff, students, alumni and visitors,” said Sara Thorndike, senior vice president for Finance and Business/treasurer. “By bringing in fresh ideas, leveraging the latest technologies and retail approaches, we will create destinations on our campuses that make everyday experiences easier, more engaging and meet the needs of customers.”

Earlier this year, Follett Higher Education Group was also awarded the RFP for Penn State’s athletic venues, including Beaver Stadium and the surrounding stadium area on game day.
