Faculty Senate passes course modality advisory report and other legislation

UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. — At its final meeting of the fall semester, the Penn State Faculty Senate passed an advisory report on proposed changes to course instructional modes; passed a policy update codifying use of test-optional admissions; and passed a statement celebrating Penn State receiving the 2025 Senator Paul Simon Award for Comprehensive Internationalization.

The senate also approved minor updates to the standing rules for two of its committees and passed a policy revision formalizing timelines related to the faculty petition policy. Guest speakers provided presentations on the work of the Graduate Council and the Joint Standing Committee for AI in Instruction. The senate also heard updates from University leadership and received several informational reports related to academic building construction, complexities faced by international students and scholars, and open access scholarship.
