Brazilian beats, Japanese flute/guitar headline Abington fall 2025 concerts

ABINGTON, Pa. — The Penn State Abington free public concert series resumes this fall with Brazilian samba and jazz, followed by a Japanese bamboo flute and classical guitar ensemble. 

Minas will perform bossa nova classics and originals to mark the 75th anniversary of the Abington campus at 7:30 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 11. The ensemble dazzles with inviting vocals and melodies blending samba and jazz music from Brazil. Their Grammy nominated record "Beatles in Bossafeatures inventively arranged Lennon-McCartney classics. Details and RSVP for the Oct. 11 concert here.

The shakuhachi (Japanese bamboo flute) has captivated listeners for centuries, and East meets West when it's paired with classical guitar. Explore traditional and contemporary music performed by shakuhachi master Nora Nohraku Suggs and guitarist John Arnold at 7 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 12. Details and RSVP for the Nov. 12 concert here.
